Four Eating Habits that Sound Healthier Than They Are

Most of my clients know the healthy eating drill pretty well – keep your fats down, eat plenty of fruits and veggies, make most of your grains “whole” and focus on low fat protein. But many of them have adopted some eating habits that they truly believe are healthy – and I have to spend some time trying to convince them otherwise. These eating habits sound like they’re healthy – but they really end up being less so when they’re put into practice. Are your eating habits as healthy as you think they are?
Do you skip breakfast thinking it will save you calories? I’m always surprised at how many people believe that skipping breakfast is a healthy habit – and think it’s a sure thing when it comes to calorie control. There are so many good reasons to eat something in the morning. For one thing, studies have shown that those who practice the breakfast habit are more likely to keep their weight under control. And, a well-planned breakfast highlights foods we don’t often get the rest of the day – like high fiber cereals and calcium-rich dairy products. If you can’t face a full meal in the morning, at least aim for a shot of protein from a smoothie or a carton of yogurt.
Do you avoid keeping food in the house because you’re afraid you’ll eat it? Not keeping food around only makes sense if you normally stash stuff you shouldn’t be eating. But a well-stocked freezer, refrigerator and pantry can actually be your best ally when it comes to eating well. When you’ve got foods like shrimp and veggies in the freezer, beans and whole grains in the pantry, and fruits, salad greens and lowfat dairy foods in the fridge, you’re never at a loss for a healthy meal or snack. Not keeping foods around the house can backfire – when hunger strikes, you may wind up grabbing the first thing you can get your hands on from your corner quick market or the drive thru.
Do you only shop at the health food store? It’s a common trap. Many people figure that anything they buy at the health food store is good for them – but it just isn’t so. There are plenty of high sugar, high fat items lurking on the shelves and plenty of ‘healthy’ snack foods that can take a big bite out of your calorie budget. Are organic potato chips or sodas made with ‘all natural’ sweeteners really any better for you than the regular stuff? Don’t let the health halo fool you. Sticking with minimally processed foods is the best way to go – no matter where you shop.
Do you avoid snacking? Plenty of my clients believe that snacking is a bad habit. And for many of them, it probably is – because their snacking habits usually revolve around chips, soda, cookies and ice cream. But healthy, well-planned snacks serve a couple of purposes. When you eat frequently during the day, you’ll avoid getting overly hungry at mealtimes – and reduce the risk of overeating when you do finally sit down. And, when you eat more often, it’s easier to work more healthy foods into your day. When you think snacks, think fruit, a handful of nuts, a protein bar, some lowfat cheese and whole grain crackers or some raw veggies dipped in hummus.

To knowv more about Fiber

fiber

Eat fiber.” You’ve probably heard this advice. But if you’re like most Americans, your diet still falls short. Experts recommend eating 25 to 30 grams of fiber each day, but most Americans eat only around 10 grams.

Numerous studies say that diets high in fiber, or the indigestible part of plants, provide health benefits.

Fiber promotes normal digestion and naturally prevents constipation. And for people who want to lose weight, a high fiber diet is a great way to go. – high fiber foods fill stomachs with fewer calories, allowing dieters to eat more and still lose weight.

There are two main types of fiber. Apples, oranges, carrots, potatoes, oats, barley and beans all contain water-soluble fiber. Water-soluble fiber helps regulate blood sugar and blood cholesterol levels.

Water-insoluble fiber traps water and helps move food through the intestines. It can be found in vegetables, wheat bran, corn bran, rice bran and most other whole grains. You need both types of fiber, so aim to eat many different fruits, vegetables, legume and whole grains throughout your day. Eat fruits and vegetables with their skins for extra fiber. Focus on whole grains like oatmeal, bran cereals, brown rice, millet and barley.

You can also find 100 percent whole grain breads and pastas at many supermarkets. Even with these changes, you may still have trouble meeting your fiber intake goals, so taking a product that contains soluble and insoluble fiber, such as Herbalife’s Active Fiber Complex,  can help you get the maximum benefit that fibers provide.

Here are some tips to sneak fiber into your diet:

- Replace your morning OJ with a whole orange. Fruit juices often contain added sugars, and they almost never have fiber. Switching from fruit juice to fruit will help you meet your daily fiber needs.

- Snack on raw vegetables. Dip raw vegetables, like cauliflower florets, baby carrots and celery, into black bean salsa or hummus to boost your fiber intake.

- Buy whole grain pasta and breads. Make your pasta salad with whole grain pasta to enjoy fiber’s health benefits. When baking breads, muffins and cookies, consider replacing some or all of the white flour with whole wheat white or whole wheat pastry flour.

Suddenly upping your fiber intake can upset your stomach, so slowly incorporate high-fiber foods into your diet, and drink plenty of water.

Social Media Easter Eggs

How are you offering value to your customers? How is your business doing it differently from your competitors and peers?
Are you taking their service and adding a slight twist to it, or are you thinking of ways to separate you from the many other similar approaches that others are using?

“Customers” doesn’t necessarily need to refer to people paying for your services, either. Customers could be readers of your blog; or connections on Twitter; or watchers of your YouTube videos.

While they may not pay you hard cash for your “service” (blog, tweets, videos, etc), they are investing their time in you; time that could be spent elsewhere. So how are you rewarding that? Are you?
How about Easter Eggs as rewards (as in the virtual hidden message version)?

Some of the ideas I’ve been thinking of I’ll be putting into play very soon. For example, if you’re connected to me via my Facebook Page, you’ll receive something in the next 5-7 days that’s tied into Facebook and won’t be available elsewhere. Sure, someone may share it after it’s public, but until (or if) that happens, you’ll only get that something on Facebook.

Or Twitter. One of the ways that I want to use Twitter more is by time-stamping a tweet, where there’ll be a surprise for the first X amount of people to click through to a link and download area for a limited edition Twitter ebook, or similar.

Or this blog. I’m in the process of a “relaunch”, if you like, with a new design and a newsletter, just to kick things off. If you subscribe to the newsletter, occasionally I’ll pick a subscriber and send something really cool their way that’s tied into the topics we talk about in the newsletter.
The same goes with the SRM Group – we’ll be looking at ways to reward social responsibility, whether that’s on Facebook or any other social outpost.

These are just some simple, basic ways to use Easter Eggs in social media, to say thank you for your support. Hopefully each one will be beneficial, because it’ll be tied into the platform in question.
Now, imagine if you turned that over to your business to your most loyal customers? It could be offline or online – it depends where you have a bigger presence.
Instead of giving 10% off your latest product or a two-for-one offer, why not give something your customer really wants? After all, anyone can give a discount but only those that care give a benefit.
  • Accessories that you’d normally use as an add-on sale – can you take a hit and give them as part of the overall sale?
  • Guidebooks for cars – can your garage/service centre give them away to a customer for their first service?
  • A milestone order from a customer or supplier – can you give them a relevant partner product as well as the ordered one?
Every action you take to thank loyalty has a core reaction of extra loyalty. Get extra loyalty – well, the sky’s the limit then.
Yes?

7 Ways to Market Your Business on Facebook – Free Ebook

With over 400 million active users, Facebook continues to be a great marketing platform for your business.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a small-to-medium business or a large conglomerate – Facebook should definitely be in your marketing arsenal.

To help you find some of the ways you can start to use Facebook to market your business, I’ve put together a free 33-page ebook that looks at some of the ways you can utilize Facebook for your business needs.

Looking at Pages, Ads, Search, Apps, Insights, Groups and Facebook Marketing Solutions, 7 Ways to Market Your Business on Facebook is meant as a quick reference guide or jumping-off point. How you use the information (and some of the case studies and examples within) will be determined by your needs and manpower/bandwidth.

Here’s the thing, though. As I wrote recently, I’m looking to offer platform-specific content as a way to offer value to connections on their preferred platform of choice, whether it’s this blog, Twitter, LinkedIn or, as in this case, Facebook.

So, you can only access the ebook via my Facebook Page. Since the content is Facebook-specific, I thought it’d be a nice way to connect the platform and users. It’s also a social experiment – I’m curious as to how platform-specific content sharing will be viewed.

Therefore, if you do download and wish to share via Twitter, email, etc, I’d be really grateful if you directed folks you may think would enjoy the ebook to the same download method as you had. I can’t make you, obviously, and I don’t want to be seen as a mean uncle, but it’d be really interesting to see how a Facebook-only share compares to a blog-wide share. Sound fair?

Anyhoo… if you’d like to check out the free 7 Ways to Market Your Business on Facebook ebook, head on over to my Facebook Page and click on the Free Ebook tab. If you’re already a “Liker”, you’ll see the download link. If not… well, there’s a little bit of black magic you need to go through first…
Hope you enjoy, and would love to know your feedback on both the ebook and the platform-specific content sharing approach. Cheers!

FOR WHAT REASON WAS FEET-WASHING PERFORMED IN THE THIRTEENTH CHAPTER OF JOHN?

As we answer this question let us keep in mind the things we have already learned. (1) The purpose of feet-washing was to cleanse the feet. (2) We must take into account who washed the feet. Most of the time the person himself washed his own feet, but in some cases it was not only considered an act of hospitality and a good work, but the menial task of a servant. Now, with this information in mind, we are ready to enter into the case of feet-washing that occurred in John the thirteenth chapter.

The events of John thirteen happened on the evening before Christ was crucified upon the cross. He had desired to eat the Passover with His disciples. That meal was held in an upper room. But, there was a disagreement among the Lord's disciples that very evening. An argument had developed among the disciples as to which one among them was to be considered the greatest. "And there was a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest." (Luke 22:24). There is no indication that the disciples washed their feet when entering the upper room as was the custom of the Jews (Luke 13:10). There was 'strife among them' and the Savior took means to remedy the problem, and, being the Master Teacher that He was, He knew that a demonstration is better than a sermon any day. Therefore, He arose from the table and began to wash the disciples' feet. That Jesus was teaching the disciples a great lesson is quite evident from the context. He says, "What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter." (John 13:7). Now Jesus was washing the disciples feet, yet He said, "You don't know what I am doing." The meaning obviously is: "Do not concentrate on what I am doing, but rather, see what I am teaching." And what was he teaching? A lesson of humility! If He, their Lord and Teacher, could humble himself to the position of a servant, they should strive to be of service to one another." And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve." (Luke 22:25,26). "If I then your Lord and Master have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example that ye should do as I have done unto you." (John 13:14,15). Notice, Jesus said as and not what. He instructed them to follow His example, an example of service!

There is not the slightest indication or proof that washing of feet was ever practiced as a ceremonial rite in the New Testament church. To do it as an act of worship without authorization of God's Word, puts it in the category where it belongs, the Doctrines of Men. (See Matthew 15:8,9).

Does the Empower Network really work?

So many people ask me, Does this really work? Do they actually pay out 100% commissions? is this another pyramid scheme? and on and on lol! I love it when people say “this this a pyramid scheme!” Next time someone says that show this video its funny to see their reaction.

I know its a really cheesy looking video but it gets the point across, I mean what do they say to that?

Well I know Im not the only one that gets that reactions from people so next time you do show them that video I’ve actually had people watch that video and join my business right after, I mean its dull and boring but it explains everything pretty well.

Anyways I’ll get back on topic, So lots of people were wondering does this really work? Honestly, it does I know many people That have actually made their first dollar online using the empower network, and the best part is you dont need to know anything to start making money! I mean look at me, I’m 20 years old, I graduated highschool with no better then average grades, and I never had any skill that would help me in any way to build a business online. I’ve tried a few diffrent other companies in the past and a made a little bit of money but nothing worth putting in the hours and hours of work to earn that money. With the empower network, the first day, I joined and paid my 25$, then I started going through my fast start training in my empower network back office. This had all the tools I needed to get started, It took me about 1 1/2 – 2 hours to go through it all then when I was done it was about midnight my time, I placed a few free ads in diffrent places online and went to bed.

I woke up the next morning and the first thing I did was go check my empower network back office and guess what? I got my first signup, and thanks to 100% commissions that 1 signup earned me 25$ which now covered my monthly fee so basicly now I was in the Empower Network for FREE! Now I’m not going to go on and say how much money I have made so far because then I’ll have people joined solely out of greed. And this will get me NOWHERE! I just want people to be able to see how easy this, and see that it doesn’t take and online marketing genious to make money here.. Absolutly ANYONE can do this, I mean look at me! I have no real online experience, no skills to apply to my business.. Nothing, but since David Wood and Dave Sharpe have created such a fool proof system paying out 100% commissions I have been able to actually make real money online with no knowledge of working online prior to this.

I mean just look at how much money they have paid out since the launch dat of October 31st 2011.

What Is MLM?

What Is MLM?

What is MLM?  The question seems simple enough doesn’t it?  In reality the question is simple; however, the understanding people have of this type of business is all over the map.   A quick Google search of this question will bring up a myriad of answers including such terms as:  residual income, home business, pyramid scheme and scam.   At times separating fact from fiction can seem like a daunting task indeed.   It is my hope in this blog post to give you the fundamental aspects of this business model and bring some clarity to the question of:  ”What is MLM?”
what is MLM
What is MLM?

what is mlm – The Direct Sales Model

Understanding what is MLM, begins with an understanding of the underlying business model.  In the case of network marketing (aka MLM) the foundation is built on a concept known as direct sales.   Direct sales is a retail sales model in which a company sells its products and services through a distribution channel made up of independent distributors or business owners.   This model has been used successfully in retail sales businesses for many years.   In a traditional brick and mortar business model, this approach is typically achieved through the company’s franchise operations.   A franchisee purchases rights to the franchise and in return is given a protected territory by the company.   Depending upon the type of retail business being established, a franchise may cost between $5,000 and $500,000.   Some franchise arrangements require an even high franchise fee.
Network marketing works on a similar principle with a few very distinct differences.    For starters, the cost to become a distributor for a typical MLM company is considerably less.  Typical distributor enrollment fees run between $50-$500.  This means that the opportunity for small business ownership becomes much more obtainable for the ordinary person.  Another difference is that most MLM companies do not have territory restrictions, which means that the business owner is able to expand their business far beyond their local territory or region.  In fact many successful MLM  business owners have been able to expand their business globally, operating in numerous countries around the world.

what is mlm – Leveraging The Efforts Of Others

In defining what is MLM, it is also important to look at the way this type of business operates.   Any retail business utilizes some variation of a sales force.  This applies to everything from automobiles to photo copiers and MLM is no different.  In an MLM business, the individual is a small business owner and the long term success or failure of their business depends upon the sales of product or service.   In a traditional direct sales model, compensation is based solely upon the efforts of the individual.  If they are actively making sales, then they are actively earning commissions; however, if they take time away or face a dry period in their activity, the income will also be affected.

In MLM, the answer to this problem is residual income.   Residual income is income that is produced indirectly through the efforts of others.   Many people would say that this is the real answer to the question of :  ”What is MLM?”  In a network marketing system, each independent business owner is given the opportunity to search out and recruit other like minded entrepreneurs to join their team.   In doing so, the small business owner is creating their own unique sales force that is actively promoting the products and services of the company.   The synergy of the team creates increased sales volume, thus creating higher commission levels for the small business owner.

The network marketing industry has developed many variations of MLM compensation  plans that allow this model to be lucrative for all who are involved.   The primary components of an MLM pay plan are direct retail commissions, indirect retail commissions and commission override bonuses.   By tapping into each element of the compensation plan, the small business owner begins to realize the full potential of residual income.   Even when the small business owner has a slow month in personal sales, they are still receiving income, because of the productivity of their team.

I hope I have answered the question of what is mlm for you.  It is important to remember that just like any other business an MLM business takes work.  If you are willing to invest the time and effort into building your business, then MLM may be the perfect fit for you.
